They quit because of how it feels to learn it.
At some point, it starts to feel frustrating. Things aren't clicking. You feel like you're messing up more than you're improving. And once it starts to feel like that, people stop coming back.
For kids, it turns into practice battles.
For adults, it turns into hesitation… or not starting at all.
And a lot of that comes from how lessons are set up. You're being watched. Corrected constantly. Feeling like you're getting it wrong before you've had a chance to figure it out.
Most people don't quit piano because they can't learn it.
If you're looking for piano lessons near Seaford, this isn't the traditional, sit-in-the-spotlight format.
So this is a different one. Here you can actually settle in and learn. You can think. You can try things more than once. You can hit the wrong note, and nobody hears it but you. And that one shift changes everything.
I've been a piano instructor long enough to see the pattern...
It's almost never the student. It's the setup.
Time to settle in, focus, and actually make progress. That's enough time to shake off the school day at Seaford Middle, or the workday, and actually get somewhere.
Up to five students. Each at their own keyboard with headphones. No spotlight. No audience. You get the privacy to make mistakes. You're working at your own pace. And when you need help, that's when I step in.
The songs your kid hums on the ride home from Seaford Harbor or East Broadway. The ones you've always wanted to learn yourself. That makes practice feel a lot less like a chore.
Giants games. Spring concerts. A busy week at work. If you miss a lesson, you'll get guidance so you can keep moving forward.
Here's the door, the room, and the chair you'll be sitting in while they play.
Located at 1890A Wantagh Ave in Wantagh, right off Sunrise Highway.
From Jackson Avenue, head west on Sunrise. That's basically the whole trip.
Easy access from Seaford Harbor, Seaford Manor, North Seaford, and the Seamans Neck Road corridor.
Down by the canals? Take Merrick Road to Wantagh Ave. Up in North Seaford? Jerusalem Avenue gets you here just as fast.
Siblings can come at the same time, each working at their own level.
One at Seaford Manor, one at Seaford Middle. Same drive. Same hour.
Seaford Harbor dismissal. East Broadway pickup. A Saturday at Tackapausha Preserve. Lessons have to fit into life, school, work, and activities, or they don't last.
Here, you're given space before you're corrected.
You're not trying to keep up with anyone else. And help is there when you need it, not constantly interrupting you.
The Seaford High junior prepping for a school concert and the Seaford Harbor dad who hasn't touched a keyboard since fourth grade can sit in the same room. Neither one is on display.
It feels manageable. So people keep coming back. And that's when real progress happens.
Most people don't need more discipline.
They need a setup that works.

...the lab lessons are a great way to help students like my son, who may feel nervous or on the spot.

I have taken 1 on 1 lessons when I was a child (at least 20 years ago) for 6 months and remember feeling so much anxiety going every week that I had quit then. Not at Chatlabash! You take lessons in a lab setting with 3-4 other students simultaneously all with headphones and you go at your own pace.

...when he learns a new song and can't wait to play it for us when he gets home.

Sara is a great teacher who my two girls have enjoyed working with for nearly 4 years now. I can definitely see more interest on their parts with respect to playing piano. They practice what's assigned but also get to choose...

Both my daughters are able to read notes and pick up songs and tunes on their own.

Did he think I could learn THE PIANO at 56 YEARS OLD???!!! We didn't even own a piano! With much apprehension, I went to the introductory lesson and met Sara. … So here I am, almost two months in, and I am loving the piano! … I practice EVERY DAY.
- Tara N., dreamed big
I always dreamed of learning piano and took lessons as a kid but hated it so much that I quit. Big regret. I finally decided to give it a second chance, it’s been a wonderful few months.

I was skeptical of Sarah’s “lab lesson” format. I grew up taking private lessons for multiple instruments & it was always 1 on 1 w/ the instructor sitting next to you. … After trying different schools I chose lessons with Sarah. … the lab lessons actually WORK.
